One night with a hero is just what she needs. But more spells trouble . . .
Dr. Katherine "Kat" Arnold left Oregon and never looked back at the town that failed her as a child. But when a new patient from Independence Falls joins her clinical trial, she returns determined to show everyone in her hometown how she has thrived—including her high school crush.
Brody Summers saves people. For years, he looked out for his younger siblings and ran the family business. Now he works search and rescue. After a failed mission, Brody plans to take an evening off. When a blonde city girl knocks him off his feet, he refuses to walk away from desire. But it doesn't take long for Brody to realize the past is returning to haunt him—and it goes back farther than one wild night.
The last thing Kat wants is a reason to extend her stay in Independence Falls. But she can't escape the memory of Brody's wicked touch. As their passion heats up, Brody wonders if he's falling for the one woman who doesn't need rescuing.

I think you can tell from my previous reviews that I have really enjoyed the Independence Falls series. I'm sad to see the series come to an end. I'm hopeful that Sara will bring us more series like this in the future. My reading tastes are all over the board when it comes to romance and this is what I would consider on the tamer/sweet end of the spectrum. The sex is definitely hot though. Brody is known as the good, dependable guy but clearly he likes his bedroom play kinky. I always love running into kink in my books so this was a welcome find. Kat and Brody heat up the sheets quickly and then dive right into awkward territory when he finds out she deceived him. That did taint my view of Kat a bit, she came across a bit unlikable for me at times. Her inner monologue went through her past so often that I grew a bit tired of it though. I did have a lot of fun going through the building of the relationship between these two. With this being the last in the series I feel like an epilogue would have been a nice way to wrap everything up. We aren't left hanging by any means, but I just wanted more of a final ending for all of the couples in the series.
