Winning Her Fortune

I love a good book from any of the Fortune’s of Texas series and this is a great story. I liked our main characters, Alana and Cooper (Coop) and of course her friends and his family along for the ride. She wins him at a bachelor auction after failing to win his brother so he’s second choice to so speak but it ends up being a better choice after all. The time and planning that Coop puts into their date speaks volumes especially for someone who really doesn’t want to settle down but then when he learns Alana’s secret, will he step up to the plate for her? I appreciated that Alana was up front with Coop especially when he kept asking her out but she didn’t want to lead him on especially when she has a huge change coming in her life. Alana and Coop find out they are more alike than they would have thought and it was nice seeing him be there for her, unfortunately he drops the ball when he wants more from their relationship. However one of my favorite scenes is when he shows up at the bar and tries to talk to Damon about what happened and how he needs a grand gesture to prove to Alana that he’s serious and then the fun begins when one of the guys starts listing off the chick flicks that he’s seen and even suggesting scene’s that Coop can reenact and that gives Coop the lightbulb moment he needs with Alana. The ending with Coop and his grand gesture melted my heart because it’s totally Coop. I definitely need to check out the previous books in this series. Really enjoyed this story!

Winning Her Fortune is full of sweet, small-town, family charm, and is a terrific feel-good read! Heatherly Bell’s characters are warm and entertaining and all too human. A great addition to the series!
