Publisher Description
A blizzard is approaching Siglufjörður, and that can only mean one thing … When the body of a nineteen-year-old girl is found on the main street of Siglufjörður, Police Inspector Ari Thór battles a violent Icelandic storm in an increasingly dangerous hunt for her killer … The chilling, claustrophobic finale to the international bestselling Dark Iceland series.
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
The discovery of a young woman's body on the main street of the remote town of Siglufjörður propels Jónasson's outstanding final Dark Iceland mystery featuring police inspector Ari Thór Arason (after 2019's Rupture). The victim, later identified as 19-year-old Unnur, fell from a balcony overlooking the street, but was it an accident? Or did Unnur jump—or, worse, was she pushed? In classic procedural style, Ari Thór tries to piece together what happened to this "quiet, studious" girl who was still living at home with her mother, but he makes little progress, with no witnesses and no obvious suspects. The stakes rise when Ari Thór learns that a patient in a local nursing home scrawled "She was murdered" on the wall of his room after hearing about the death. How this distinctive lead relates to the people of Siglufjörður is as intriguing as the crime solving. That this is a translation of the French translation of the original Icelandic edition is no impediment to enjoyment. Series fans will be sorry to see the last of Ari Thór.
Customer Reviews
Amazing characters and no win situation
There is a credible, gripping to the characters and plotting in Ragnar’s book and in fact in all of Jonasson’s novels. An acquired taste at first, but one that is quickly addicting.

Loved reading this book by a very favorite author! Ari Thor is a favorite character of mine, but wonder about his emotional intelligence at times. Of course, he is such a good and decent person, and he had few role models growing up. This was a great story. I hope to see more Ari Thor books with Ugla, too, who really seems perfect for Ari. I enjoyed reading the author’s story, too, and am glad he writes about Iceland. Wow - a lawyer, a writer, and a football player! Glad you ran into a publisher and translated Ari books into English!
