Potential to be so much more
This one was ok but has potential to be so much more. It had good bones but just seemed to struggle to get going. Mia’s character, like the opinion of other’s, was annoying. She was portrayed as too much of a human mindset even to the end. In Zanetti’s previous books the female characters realized their fate, so to speak, while not losing their character and realized the importance of assimilating into the community of the one she loved. In this one, Mia just never seems to really fit in. Also, having her be involved in two ongoing cases was too much. Finally, I’d love to see what happens with Erik but from the synopsis given to the other books I’m not sure that happens. I hope the rest of the series gets better.
Wolf
Wolf by Rebecca Zanetti
Stope Pack series book 1. Paranormal shifter romantic suspense.
Previously published in chapter format on Kindle Vella. 2021.
Mia is investigating a murder in a mining town as a former FBI profiler. Mia’s uncle, the sheriff, considers Seth to be the prime suspect. Mia talks to Seth as he’s held in jail waiting for bail to be set and finds Seth compelling. As her investigation continues, additional deaths are found and threats to her are increasing.
Mia is smart and diligent and I admire her dedication to her family. Seth is arrogant and I wasn’t so sure about him. He is an alpha so I guess we give him a little leeway? In the end, he proves his loyalty to the right person and situation.
I want to know more about brother Erik and how he changes.
“Seth caressed a hand down her arm, bringing all sorts of nerves wide-awake.”
Pulse-pounding action, attraction, and a captivating story with a twist I didn’t expect.
Hated Mia
I want to start by saying I absolutely love Rebecca. She’s an amazingly talented writer and I’ve loved everything I’ve read of hers. I didn’t care for this story however. The characters seemed forced and flat, the chemistry seemed forced, the storyline didn’t flow, and the world created by the author seemed very flat. A lot of telling but not showing. Mia was a very annoying character and nothing like the other heroine love interests in the other books Rebecca has written.
