Outstanding and spot on!

I can't really even begin to describe how amazing this book is. It encapsulates guidance for nearly every type of situation that managers supervisors and employees may encounter in virtually any type of job and gives spot on guidance for appreciating the intricacies of and effectively managing common challenges (including many that people may not even realize are sabotaging their best efforts). I picked it up to give as a reference to someone I supervise (who supervises many others). Yet it was so compelling in its message that I wound up getting my own copy to read.

We recently went through (and are still recovering from) a very challenging string of events at work that I have been coaching my employe on how to manage. It is as if the author followed us around for the last 6 months and observed every challenge that he faced and provided practical exposure to the origins of his challenges and how he could overcome them. I am elated to learn that my own advice to him was virtually identical in most respects. However, this book offered techniques to improve upon not only his effectiveness as a supervisor, but also techniques for me to polish my effectiveness as HIS supervisor. I have already benefitted tremendously with reduced stress after implementing just a few of the suggestions.

There was virtually no challenge mentioned in the book that we have not faced in our organization in some form. Anyone who is ever in a supervisory position or wants to start a supervisory position (and perhaps anyone who has a supervisor) should read this book cover to cover. Many kudos to the author for her vision in synthesizing what most go through but few fully appreciate. Let this book give you the best kept secrets for how to work happy!
