Publisher Description
#1 New York Times bestselling author Tessa Bailey delivers a sexy, hilarious standalone holiday rom-com about the adult children of two former rock stars who team up to convince their estranged mothers to play a Christmas Eve concert…
Melody Gallard may be the daughter of music royalty, but her world is far from glamorous. She spends her days restoring old books and avoiding the limelight (one awkward tabloid photo was enough, thanks). But when a producer offers her a lot of money to reunite her mother’s band on live tv, Mel begins to wonder if it’s time to rattle the cage, shake up her quiet life… and see him again. The only other person who could wrangle the rock and roll divas.
Beat Dawkins, the lead singer’s son, is Melody’s opposite—the camera loves him, he could charm the pants off anyone, and his mom is not a potential cult leader. Still, they might have been best friends if not for the legendary feud that broke up the band. When they met as teenagers, Mel felt an instant spark, but it’s nothing compared to the wild, intense attraction that builds as they embark on a madcap mission to convince their mothers to perform one last show.
While dealing with rock star shenanigans, a 24-hour film crew, brawling Santas, and mobs of adoring fans, Mel starts to step out of her comfort zone. With Beat by her side, cheering her on, she’s never felt so understood. But Christmas Eve is fast approaching, and a decades-old scandal is poised to wreck everything—the Steel Birds reunion, their relationships with their mothers, and their newfound love.
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
Bestseller Bailey (Unfortunately Yours) pairs the children of celebrities to winning effect in this hot and heartwarming contemporary. Beat Dawkins and Melody Gallard are the respective children of Octavia Dawkins and Trina Gallard, who together made up the rock duo Steel Birds before the band imploded for publicly unknown reasons while the women were pregnant. Thirty years have passed, and Octavia is now the darling of the charity ball set, while Trina's living a freewheeling lifestyle on a commune. Their children have understandably complicated relationships with fame: Beat's determined to stay out of the spotlight as much as possible, while Melody has been treated abominably by the tabloids. Then a TV producer ropes them into a reality show about convincing their mothers to reunite Steel Birds for a Christmas concert, catapulting Beat and Melody to new levels of fame. Viewers are quickly charmed by Melody's self-effacing humor and the intense chemistry between her and Beat—and readers will be too. There's plenty of steam as the couple get together, and the mystery of what split up Steel Birds and whether they'll reunite in time for the concert keeps the pages turning. It's a rollicking good time.

Loved it! 4.5 Stars! 👏👏👏
It’s hard to beat a good Tessa Bailey rom com (with heat!). She consistently gives us a good story, a plot with a few twists and turns, well developed lead characters, and a supporting cast that adds to the fun and moves the plot along. Her books are heads above most in this genre. Plus they are witty and fun to read. And 🔥.
What makes Wreck the Halls especially fun is the inclusion of social media/reality TV as almost a third lead character (if that even makes sense). It’s a great plot twist when those that “follow” Beat and Melody through their live-streamed travails realize that they love each other even before they do.
And their mothers….trying not to give spoilers here…but the mothers should have their own novella. They are, as my mother would say, “a real hoot!” I loved them both.
I deducted 1/2 star because some of the proclivities of the male lead, Beat, were a bit beyond belief but that’s ok… Also the story ended a little too abruptly. I would have liked to have the final concert detailed out to the end.
Buy this book. It’s pricier than some but worth it.
So cute!
One of my FAV books by her that I’ve read so far. Very cute, and not overly Christmas. I loved Beat & Melody. I laughed several times which I don’t typically do with books.
I am a harsh critic and rarely give out 5s
Absolutely wonderful
