Eh.
The ending was rushed and frankly dissatisfying. I was hoping she’d go with the underdog and that their story (condensed version) could have provided a sweet, if a bit surprising and more well-developed ending.
A rare miss from McFarlane
Her writing style is still engaging, but the plot is so very, very thin. The conflict is one-note and repetitive. There’s just no “there” there. It’s a disappointing turn from one of my sure bet authors.
