Useless 'super weapons' Re "Consumed by Afghanistan," George Will op-ed, June 21: Will's comment on the shortcomings of our counterinsurgency strategy sums up the nature of the wars in Afghanistan and also Iraq. This country spends obscene amounts of money on "super weapons" and our leadership prevents their use, for fear of killing innocent civilians. Yet they seem perfectly willing to risk the lives of American and allied troops through an inability to engage enemies who hide behind women, children and the elderly to prevent losing their own lives.
