Based on the harrowing true story of Grace Marks, a household servant convicted of two grisly murders in 1843 Canada, the novel serves up a gripping portrayal of Victorian-era crime, punishment and superstitions. It’s also (no surprise) a sly rebuke to the persistent fear of women who refuse to slide neatly into society's prescribed roles.

Amazing Novel
I love Alias Grace and it's depth of detail in one's psychological, cultural and physical landscape.
Margaret Atwood, after reading this novel, is now one of my favourite authors.
I really recommend this novel for those readers who want a fascinating but challenging book to read.
Great author
Loved this book - it is well written and obviously well researched. Margaret Atwell is now one of my favorite authors - I hope to read all of her novels!
