Are you constantly decluttering, only for the mess to return? Do clothes overflow from your wardrobe, paperwork pile up, and cupboards fill with things you no longer use?

In The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying, Japanese organising consultant Marie Kondo shares her renowned KonMari Method—a practical, step-by-step approach to decluttering and organising your home that focuses on keeping only the items that truly "spark joy."

Unlike traditional room-by-room cleaning methods, the KonMari Method encourages you to tidy by category, helping you make thoughtful decisions about what to keep and how to organise your belongings. The result is a home that is easier to maintain and a more intentional approach to the things you own.

Inside you'll discover how to:
Declutter your home using the proven KonMari Method Organise clothes, books, papers, sentimental items and more Create storage systems that are simple and easy to maintain Decide what to keep by asking whether it truly sparks joy Build lasting habits for a tidy, organised home

Whether you're starting a full home reset, embracing a more minimalist lifestyle, or simply looking for practical decluttering and home organisation advice, The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying offers a simple guide to transform your home.

Begins well, but loses usefulness towards the end

The first half of this book, outlining Konmari's overarching principles of tidying and the order she recommends, is helpful. The second half has a few useful comments in it, but lots of it is waffling and, quite frankly, nonsense. I don't regret reading it and I'll refer to the first half during the act of tidying, but I'd never bother with the second half again.

Hire a helper instead

I must have had high expectations, it just didn't deliver. Hire a house helper instead and learn from them.
