Ruby Scott is months behind on rent and can’t seem to land a steady job. She has one chance to turn things around with a big audition. But instead of getting her big break, she gets sick as a dog and completely bombs it in the most humiliating fashion. All thanks to a mysterious, gorgeous guy who kissed—and then coughed on—her at a party the night before.
Luckily, her best friend might have found the perfect opportunity; a job staying at the lavish penthouse apartment of hotel magnate Bancroft Mills while he’s out of town, taking care of his exotic pets. But when the newly-evicted Ruby arrives to meet her new employer, it turns out Bane is the same guy who got her sick.
Seeing his role in Ruby’s dilemma, Bane offers her a permanent job as his live-in pet sitter until she can get back on her feet. Filled with hilariously awkward encounters and enough sexual tension to heat a New York City block, Shacking Up, from New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Helena Hunting, is sure to keep you laughing and swooning all night long.
Fun and sexy
This book was a Lot of fun to read ! I had quite a few laugh out kid moments and found bane and Ruby’s friendship to lover story fun and sexy!
This story is definitely a slow burn romance , which is entertaining and lovable !!
A great read !
I always enjoy a Helena Hunting book. She can write a great rom-com. There is plenty of banter to have you giggling and a touch of angst to keep you on edge. The romance and lead up with these two was perfect as Bancroft was away on business and Ruby was his house sitter. Once he was back, things start to heat up even more. Some parts were a little repetitive on their thoughts and how they wanted into each other's pants, it was obvious from the start the instant attraction. It's a sweet roommate to lovers romance in dual POV which is also a bonus for me. I like being inside their heads and know what they are thinking. I am hoping that Amie (Ruby's bff) gets her own book and we hear more about her story.
Nothing to do with the book, but I had a hard time with reading this on iBooks. I had to delete it and re download it but it still had problems. At the end of every paragraph, that page was repeated like ground hog day. After one paragraph, I had to turn the page six times to get the new one. This was distracting, sometimes it was just once but other times it was two to three times but it would more into the next paragraph.
Hilarious Romantic Comedy
A new standalone from one of my favourite authors, once again Helena Hunting has proved she is the queen of rom-com. I love a book that makes me laugh and Shacking Up is hilarious.
Ruby is having a hard time and needs to find a new place to live so her best friend suggests she pet sits for Bancroft who happens to have a couple of very unusual pets that need special attention. Bancroft is an ex rugby player who is now trying to prove himself in his fathers company that means a lot of traveling and no time for romance well that was until he literary bumped into Ruby at his best mates sort of engagement party.
This book has it all, characters you can relate too, banter that will have you laughing out loud and some pretty hot faceTiming but most of all this author has a way with her tongue in cheek writing that will have you coming back for more. Looking forward to the next book from her.
