Customer Reviews
Brilliant!
Wow-what a thrilling, tense and suspenseful read this is. My heart still starts racing every time I think about it. Cally you have done it again and completely exceeded my expectations. Each book you release just outdoes the previous one and Strangers is yet another fantastic addition to your bibliography. It takes you hostage and will have you reading well into the night. After I read chapter one, I was completely hooked and could not tear myself away from it.
For this review, I am not going to discuss the plot, as I believe that the blurb gives you more than enough and anyway, it is a Cally Taylor book! you know that you are going to get one hell of a storyline. I never actually go into her books reading the blurb, as I like the element of surprise with them. She could write a book about a bunch of trees and it would be brilliant. She is definitely an author that delivers each and every time.
What I will discuss are the characters. Cally has created three people that could not be more different from the other, but who actually work well together. Each of their personalities shines throughout the pages and each of them really resonated with me. I also enjoyed how the book was structured. Each of the three characters has a voice throughout via alternating chapters told from their points of view in the lead up to the events that have them becoming entwined. I also enjoyed how Cally incorporated scenes told through Twitter entries involving a subplot which was a great touch.
As always Cally is able to draw the reader in right from the get-go and takes you on one wild rollercoaster of a ride! What I also love, is how Cally is able to write a story and keep the reader in the dark and enthralled right up until the end, she very rarely gives you any indication where it could all be heading. Stranger’s is another perfect example of this. When she does get to the finale, it is done in spectacular fashion with a jaw-dropping moment that you don’t see coming and it will have you closing the book feeling very satisfied in its outcome.
Strangers is a fast-paced gripping read and if you love thrillers, this book is definitely a must to add to your reading list for 2020. Whether she is writing in the YA or thriller genre, you always know that you are going to read something outstanding and I look forward to reading what she comes up with next. It was an absolute pleasure to read and review Strangers which I highly recommend.
Thank you to NetGalley, Avon Books and C.L. Taylor for allowing me to read an advanced copy of Strangers which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.
