Publisher Description
There is a voice in your head, and it is not on your side. It watches everything you do and finds it wanting. It calls you stupid when you make a mistake, pathetic when you struggle, a failure when you fall short.
The Inner Critic is a warm, psychologically informed guide to easing the Harsh Inner Voice of Self-Judgment, and the Kind Witness Method for Becoming a Kind Witness to Your Own Life. Elia Sal brings together accessible research, compassionate insight, realistic examples, and reflective exercises so readers can recognise what is happening beneath the surface rather than blaming themselves. The Kind Witness Method turns that understanding into a practical route forward.
With practical tools, Between Sessions exercises, words to practise, chapter takeaways, and a grounded final path forward, this book is designed to be read slowly, returned to often, and used in real life.
Customer Reviews
A gentle and empowering read
The Inner Critic is a beautifully written and genuinely comforting book that offers a fresh perspective on that harsh voice many of us carry around in our heads.
I also really appreciated how accessible the writing is. It doesn’t feel overly clinical or complicated, yet it still provides plenty to think about. There were several moments where I found myself recognising patterns in my own thinking and realising just how often we can be harder on ourselves than we would ever be towards someone else.
