Publisher Description
The next three decades of Abby Herbert's life are as carefully planned out as the last three were. Best career ever? Check. Great friends, one of whom she lives with in a stunning TriBeCa apartment? Check. Perfect boyfriend about to propose so she can have her dream family? Surely just a matter of time. But then she gets devastating news from her doctor - if she wants to get pregnant, she needs to get started on that by ... well, yesterday. On the bright side, she has the perfect person in mind to be the father.
Tech entrepreneur Marcus Ross has been harbouring decidedly not-friends feelings towards Abby. He doesn't want to lose her, and knowing his feelings are one-sided, he's been trying to move on. When he learns about the curveball Abby's just been hit with, he promises to be there for her however she wants him to be. But it isn't long until boundaries start to blur, and a deal struck between friends starts to turn into something perilously close to feelings that could change everything ...

APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
Bestselling Australian writer Kelly Rimmer has a knack for writing sweet tear-jerkers, but she really hits her stride with Unexpected. This contemporary romance novel follows childhood friends Abby and Marcus: loveable, funny and relatable protagonists whose relationship grows more complex when they decide to have a baby together. Lucky for us, this book is the first in a series—it certainly feels like there’s a lot more drama and romance ahead for the pair and their friends.
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
Rimmer (Before I Let You Go) showcases her talent with this sweet, lively contemporary set in New York City. Best friends since birth, habitual planner Abigail Herbert and commitment-phobic Marcus Ross know each other better than they know themselves. When Abby learns that an inherited condition is quickly diminishing her chances of carrying a pregnancy to term, she asks Marcus to help her conceive. Despite Abby's plan to parent alone, Marcus realizes he wants to be more than just a sperm donor; he wants his child to know him as dad. When they learn how time-consuming artificial insemination is, they decide to go about it the traditional way, believing they will be able to keep their hearts out of the mix. However, neither is aware that the other is still affected by a kiss they shared months earlier. Their fun, loving longtime friends have already made bets about Abby and Marcus's relationship remaining platonic, and the stakes are raised when the two start to have more-than-friendly feelings for each other. The ending is predictable but not clich d, the flow is as smooth as the transition of the relationship, and the characters are wildly entertaining. This will delight fans of extremely modern romance.

Love it!
Great story with equally great characters. Love all of Kelly’s books. Definitely worth reading.
Great read!
I’ve just rekindled my love of reading after years of being ‘too busy’ to take time out to do so. This is the second book of Kelly’s that I’ve read in 2 weeks!! I’m in love! The stories are so gripping I find it hard to put the book down once started. I look forward to reading the rest of your collection.
