#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER
Art restorer and legendary spy Gabriel Allon searches for the missing wife of a British billionaire in the electrifying new tale of greed, corruption, and betrayal from #1 New York Times–bestselling novelist Daniel Silva.
Alice Winter, one of Britain’s most dazzling socialites, seemingly has the perfect life—a lavish home in posh Knightsbridge, a grand estate in Devon, millions of followers on social media who eagerly await her next post. But when she disappears without a trace while on holiday with three old friends from Cambridge, her desperate husband, the real estate baron Edward Knight, turns to none other than Gabriel Allon to find her.
He soon discovers that Alice Winter is not the woman she appears to be, that she has a reckless side, that she has secrets. But Edward Knight has a secret too, a secret so dangerous that Gabriel will have no choice but to return to the life he thought he had left behind. An old enemy lurks there, waiting for him to make one misstep, waiting for the perfect moment to exact vengeance.
From its irresistible opening chapters to its heart-pounding climax and shocking final twist, Ransom is a riveting, page-turning tour de force that proves yet again why Daniel Silva is the reigning master of international intrigue and suspense.
APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
Legendary spy Gabriel Allon races to uncover the truth behind a high-profile kidnapping in this globe-spanning thriller. A reunion of old university friends in Ibiza takes a frightening turn when one of them disappears. Gabriel is asked to investigate quietly before a media frenzy and an increasingly tangled trail of secrets ruin any hope of finding her. As Gabriel searches from Mediterranean resorts to London’s elite circles and beyond, a simple kidnapping grows into a dangerous conspiracy involving hidden fortunes, Russian influence, and global power. Daniel Silva’s expert pacing unravels the mystery one carefully placed clue at a time. Each new revelation feels bigger than the last as a glamorous world of billionaire estates, exclusive art events, and picture-perfect influencers gradually gives way to a much darker story of corruption and political deception. You don’t need to know Gabriel Allon’s past adventures to get lost in Ransom, but it will most likely leave you eager to devour them all.
Customer Reviews
Ransom
Enjoyed this book, seemed a little slow getting started. I’ve read all Daniel Silva’s book. He’s one of my favorite authors!
Not Disappointed
Silva does not disappoint. Ransom takes hold of you immediately and does not stop until the end. Supported by the usual cast of characters in London’s art world and British intelligence, some of whom gain additional brush strokes of character, Allon continues to resolve the messes into which he voluntarily inserts himself. Enjoy!
Good one
Good one. Lots of moving parts. Fewer instances of gratuitous flaunting of prestige things and places.
