Publisher Description
"There was no black and white in my world. It was black or blacker. And I was the blackest of them all."
Xavier "X" Blood only remembers the last few years of his life.
Trained to be an emotionless and deadly assassin, he goes through each day crossing names off a never-ending list, never once asking why they deserve what he delivers.
Death.
Then his programming begins to unravel, and it's all because of her.
Mercy Reid has a secret. A big one. The kind that will get her killed if it ever gets out. Desperate to disappear, she runs from one hopeless situation and straight into the path of a monster—a man programmed by the worst of the worst to kill without remorse.
A man who is looking for her.
When X is given his latest target, the lines begin to blur. He knows his mark is right in front of him, but for the first time, pulling the trigger isn't so simple. Mercy is awakening something inside him that shouldn't exist. Something human.
Will X defy his programming and save the woman who has made him feel again?
Or will he do what he was created to do…and pull the trigger?
Royal Blood is the first book in the Royal Blood series, a dark romantic suspense series of assassins, dangerous secrets, deadly enemies, and forbidden desire. X was trained to kill without remorse, but the woman he's supposed to eliminate might be the only person capable of saving what's left of his soul.

Cliff hanger Arrgh!
I would give it 5 but I hate cliff hangers! If you can get past the language and the violence then there's a story a good one too but you're basically introduced to the characters and then it ends. Mercy is a strong female role but has some issues, Xavier is the type you want to hate but you know he's broken so you want to fix him. I liked it but go in knowing you'll have to get the next to get the whole story.
Good
I didn't get hooked until the end. It surprises me that I kept reading it even though it didn't capture my interest in the beginning. Now I have to get all the books to find out what happens. Wish they could sell it as a bundle, save a little money. The books are too short. The author could have easily combined a couple of books. Oh well, that's me dreaming. :)
I loved it.
This was a great read. I enjoyed being able to gain perspective from both of the the main characters. I more so enjoyed being in X's mind than I did Mercy's. There felt like parts of it were filler, a way to make the book longer but other than that, I loved it. I'm looking forward to buying the second book.
