A Father For Christmas
A story with with interesting and well written characters. Fun plus educational all wrapped up in this book.
An Afghan Vet Love Story
The premise to the story is compelling. An Afghan war vet with PTSD and lucid flashbacks who is trying to make up for the sins of war by caring for the war orphans. A convicted felon on parole for insider trading trying to care for her young daughter and elderly mother recently recovered from cancer. Both need redemption, a second chance at love. She comes across as unlikable and selfish initially but wins our hearts over as she gets to know the vet. What becomes a beautiful tale of Christian love and justice is inter-mixed with a story of physical desire and unfinished storylines (a selfish, law-breaking insider trading BFF who is inter-mixed with his charity), and so neither end up being done well. While I appreciated the message, it came across mixed when neither individual follow the guidelines put forth by their beliefs. Mixed messages.
