Unexpectedly delightful
This isn’t the type of romance I usually read but I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It had everything, a little suspense, humour, and romance with a happy ending. Highly recommend.
Love It, As Always
I made a discovery in Mary Frame's latest release. I thought I loved her books for her outrageously quirky, hilarious characters. The characters in If I Could Turn Back Time, however, are relatively normal. The plot isn't belly-busting funny either. It’s just funnier than nine out of ten romantic comedies you’ll find on bookshelves anywhere.
Now don’t get me wrong. The characters in this book aren’t overly normal. After all, Amelia has never had someone she could call a friend, thanks to her parents’ globetrotting. As for Grey, well, he is a time traveller under death sentence who does wander in and out of her bedroom closet. Once they get to know each other, he also leaves a huge (not overly optimistic) supply of condoms under a floorboard in his time. Good thing. They are desperately needed when he takes yet another trip into her time.
Other than that, as I say, he is relatively normal. Oh. Wait a minute. There's one other way in which he is distinctly abnormal. He is surely among the most swoon-worthy and lust-provoking beta heroes in all of Romancelandia. You can have your bad boys and your forceful alphas. Give me a scrumptious nice guy who adores his gal any day. Yeah, I'll spend a lifetime with that kind of abnormal any day.
I'll leave the recounting of the truly suspenseful plot to others. I’ll just promise you that this book is Mary Frame at her best, with a soupcon of the different. You'll close the book with the same old song in your heart and sappy grin on your face.
P.S. I received an advance reading copy of the book in return for thinking about writing a review. Or not, if I didn’t want to. But I really would be derelict in my duty to the rest of the reading public if I didn’t tell everyone that they'll love this book.
