Rhythm of War is where all the trouble stirred up in the sweeping Stormlight Archive fantasy series’ first three books really starts coming to a head. The Knights Radiant, who put their lives on the line for the sake of their world, are experiencing some epic battle fatigue in their fight against the sinister Odium’s forces. A year of war hasn’t gained them much ground, and they’re increasingly unsure how much they can trust their friends. Meanwhile, the souls of ancient enemies are taking new form to tilt the odds even further against them. Knights leader Dalinar Kholin’s job has never seemed less desirable. Brandon Sanderson makes you care about his characters without sacrificing a bit of the breathtaking, bigger-than-life action that gets readers’ hearts thumping extra hard.

Excellent Addition
I can’t get enough of this series. I guess I’ll have to re-read them all again as I wait for book 5. Great work Brandon!
Let Down
I didn't enjoy this book as much as the other 3 major books this far in the series. The world building, usage of characters, flashbacks and general pacing of this book felt different from the rest.
Things I liked in previous books: Kaladin's internal strife between what is just vs what the world is. Shallan's quirkiness and quick wit. Dalinar's struggle to be better.
While reading this book I felt moments were dragging on and rushed; often at the same time. The challenges didn't feel meaningful, characters simply succeeded or failed then moved on. Moments and outcomes didn't build on top of each other like in the earlier books.
I would've really enjoyed it more if throughout this book, through internal thought processes the characters thought "I wish I could do X, but due to Y yesterday, I'm forced into the less optimal choice of Z" or "Thankfully I did A, because now I can do B today, which brings me one step closer to C"
