Leigh Bardugo’s Grisha series follows teenage orphan Alina Starkov on her journey from apprentice mapmaker to magical leader of a fight against the forces of darkness that have overtaken her homeland. During Alina’s epic travels, there’s action, adventure, and a genuinely compelling love rectangle involving her devoted childhood friend, a swashbuckling outlaw prince, and the Darkling, one of the all-time great Seductive Bad Guys. Throughout it all, Bardugo does a great job of bringing us into Alina’s head for all the highs and lows of her hero’s journey. This trilogy was a phenomenal read from beginning to end. No wonder they made it into a show on Netflix.

Marvellous reading for fans of strong female fantasy novels. Would highly recommend. Twists the reader won’t see coming. Rich and vibrant. Left the reading wanting more
