3.75 stars--UNEXPECTED is the second novella in Aleatha Romig’s contemporary, adult INDULGENCE erotic, BDSM romance series. This is attorney Jenn, and her husband Paul Masters’ story line. UNEXPECTED can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary. We were first introduced to Jenn Masters in book one UNCONVENTIONAL.
NOTE: UNEXPECTED contains scenes of bondage, discipline, and sadism that may be triggers for more sensitive readers.
Told from dual first person perspectives (Jenn and Paul) UNEXPECTED follows the faltering relationship between married couple Jenn and Paul Masters. On the verge of signing their divorce papers, Paul offers up a potential solution, a solution suggested by their marriage therapist. What ensues is the rebuilding relationship between Jenn and Paul, and the potential fall-out when a tropical storm blows in more trouble than our couple could have imagined.
UNEXPECTED is another raw and gritty story line as one couple must come to terms with their deteriorating marriage. Paul Masters has kept hidden his baser desires, desires that involve dominating the woman he has never stopped loving; while Jenn has secretly desired to submit to the man in charge. The premise is decadent and thought provoking; the characters are real and energetic; the romance is spicy and startling.
