Welcome to the Land of the Ideas: The Goethe Institute Fellowship Tour of Germany (Report‪)‬

"Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime. " Mark Twain was inspired to write these words after a visit to Germany in the 1860's. Almost a century and a half later, I visited many of the same sites he described so eloquently in "Innocents Abroad". The Goethe Institute's 2006 Fellowship Tour gave me a much deeper appreciation of the significance of his words.
