For 21 years, David P. Gehant, FACHE, has led Boulder Community Hospital (BCH), a 265-bed, not-for-profit institution that employs more than 2,000 people. Under Mr. Gehant's leadership, in 2003, BCH became the first hospital in the United States to earn LEED certification, a prestigious recognition of the institution's environmental achievements. Since that time, BCH has earned numerous awards for its continued environmental focus. Mr. Gehant is an active member of the local healthcare community, having served three terms as chair of the board of directors of the Colorado Hospital Association and as a member of the boards of Foothills United Way and HospiceCare of Boulder and Broomfield Counties. In 2004, he received the Boulder Distinguished Citizen Award. In addition, he has directed several international, multiyear health projects in Mexico, Tajikistan, Tanzania, and the Ukraine.
