A lifelong Iowan, David A. Stark, FACHE, joined the Iowa Health System in 1996 as an administrative fellow. Shortly thereafter, Mr. Stark was selected as interim chief executive officer for one of the system's rural hospital affiliates. His success in this position led to a series of promotions within the system, starting with the role of chief operating officer for Iowa Lutheran Hospital and culminating with his current post as executive vice president and chief operating officer for Iowa Health-Des Moines. A Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE), Mr. Stark is president of ACHE's Iowa Association of Healthcare Leaders. In addition, he is president of the board of Orthopedic Outpatient Surgical Center, a member of the advisory board of Partners in Health, a member of the Management and Marketing Advisory Council of Iowa State University, and a member of the Council on Education and Member Services of the Iowa Hospital Association. He received a master of health administration from the University of Iowa and graduated from the Greater Des Moines Leadership Institute program.
