"Roger Malvin's Burial" is one of the best-known short stories by Nathaniel Hawthorne, tells about  two colonial survivors named Roger Malvin and Reuben Bourne returning home after the battle known as Lovell's Fight. Wounded and weak, they had little hope that they will survive. Malvin, a much older man, convinced Reuben to leave him because his wounds were mortal. Reuben resisted at first, but finally had to obey and therefore survived. Though has not buried the old man, so he has no peace at heart…
