Imperfect

Indochina. In the south-east Asia, there are four countries that offer a range of attractions that can impress and satisfy even the most demanding of travellers. While Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia once were under the French rule, Thailand has never been colonised. Historical monuments in Cambodia  almost entirely reclaimed by the jungle can stimulate imagination! The impossibly decorated temples in Laos are mind-boggling and their monks’ smiles are totally infectious. Thai cuisine is impossibly yummy and the grand palaces in Bangkok drip with golden leaf. Vietnam, despite its shortcomings and faults, offers discrete peeing hole into their past empire.


This short book describes the author’s personal and unique experiences during his trip to Cambodia, Laos, Thailand and Vietnam in 2003 and 2004. The book contains 215 original photographs taken during the trip, descriptions of places to eat, drink, sleep and socialise with the locals. It covers: in Cambodia - Siem Reap, Angkor and nearby temples, Phnom Penh; in Laos - Luangprabang, the Mekong, Pakbeng, Huayxai; in Thailand - Bangkok and Ayutthaya; and in Vietnam - Saigon, the Mekong Delta with Vinh Long, Hue, Hanoi and Halong Bay.
