Maybe the end of 2001 was not the optimal time to visit Central America due to safety, but maybe it would have been too long to wait until the situation got better. At the time of publishing of this book in 2015, the situation got slightly worse, in fact.


The plan was, as always, ambitious. Five countries in 20 days! That was almost pushing it... It may sound sad that one actually needed a plan for a holiday trip. Like there was not enough pressure at work to develop a discipline of being organised, etc. However, believe it or not, without the plan it would be quite impossible to make it a worthwhile of going to Central America for such a short time with so many expectations.


Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Honduras, El Salvador and Guatemala – all offering astounding scenery teeming with wildlife, impressive architecture and interesting mix of people.


This short, unapologetic books summarises the thrills of travelling through the countries, contains over 120 original photographs taken during the trip (and then digitised), and describes places to sleep, eat, drink and socialise with the locals.
