Publisher Description

Bel Ami is the second novel written by French author Henri René Albert Guy de Maupassant, published in 1885. An English translation titled “Bel Ami, or, The History of a Scoundrel: A Novel” first appeared in 1903.

The novel tells us about life of journalist named Georges Duroy and his corrupted rising power from a poor non-commissioned officer to one of the most successful men in Paris. He has no talents, but he has great appearance, which helps him to be popular among women, and his conscience cannot stop him doing mean things. Most of his success he earned due to efficient manipulations over a series of powerful, intelligent and rich mistresses.

The acting takes place in Paris in the upper-middle class of the journalists of the newspaper La Vie Francaise and their friends.
