Everyone knows that Colin Bridgerton is the most charming man in London . . .
Penelope Featherington has secretly adored her best friend's brother for . . . well, it feels like forever. After half a lifetime of watching Colin Bridgerton from afar, she thinks she knows everything about him, until she stumbles across his deepest secret . . . and fears she doesn't know him at all.
Colin Bridgerton is tired of being thought of as nothing but an empty-headed charmer, tired of the notorious gossip columnist Lady Whistledown, who can't seem to publish an edition without mentioning him. But when Colin returns to London from a trip abroad, he discovers nothing in his life is quite the same - especially Penelope Featherington! The girl who was always simply there is suddenly the girl haunting his dreams. When he discovers that Penelope has secrets of her own, this elusive bachelor must decide . . . is she his biggest threat - or his promise of a happy ending?

Penelope finally gets her man
On his return from his latest adventure, Colin starts to see his sister’s friend in a new light. Why has he never noticed her before? Why is she constantly on his mind? When he discovers the secret she has been hiding from the ton for years, his fears for her should the discovery be made public cause a temper to erupt that Penelope never knew he had all directed at her. However that doesn’t stop him tying his life to hers and when a scandal looks likely to break it is he that gives it a positive spin and defuses the situation. Together they stand as a strong and united couple. Enjoyed reading this romance.
The Worst
Honestly this isn’t a romance. The relationship is so toxic and abusive I’m shocked it gets painted as romance and a happy ending. We keep getting told how amazing and lovely Colin is but he never actually behaves that way. He’s got serious anger issues that he takes out on everyone around him. Hated every second of this book.
Great read
One of the best of the Bridgeton series of books in my opinion.
