Publisher Description

When Charles Wycombe, the dashing and incorrigible Earl of Billington, toppled out of a tree and landed at Ellie's feet, neither suspected that such an inauspicious meeting would lead to marriage. But Charles must find a bride before his thirtieth birthday or he'll lose his fortune. And Ellie needs a husband or her father's odious fiancée will choose one for her. And so they agree to wed, even though their match appears to have been made somewhere hotter than heaven ...

Ellie never dreamed she'd marry a stranger, especially one with such a devastating combination of rakish charm and debonair wit. She tries to keep him at arm's length, at least until she discovers the man beneath the handsome surface. But Charles can be quite persuasive -- even tender -- when he puts his mind to it, and Ellie finds herself slipping under his seductive spell. And as one kiss leads to another, this unlikely pair discovers that their marriage is not so inconvenient after all ... and just might lead to love.

Loved the story & characters

I loved the characters and the movement of the two falling in love.
The only issue is the last chapter before the epilogue. Ellie does something that as a vicars daughter would not be moved past lightly. But I’m glad they got a happy ending.

Not great

There are two major mysteries that are easy to figure out, these mysteries and the events caused by them take up most of the book, leaving no space left for the romance, what I did read about the two main characters was great, and there romance was adorable, there just wasn’t enough of the book focusing on it. Instead it was just situations caused by one of the two mysteries and the main characters were reacting to them. It got to a point where it felt like whenever the plot needed to move forward, one of the main characters would get injured. Not Julia Quinn’s worst, but very far from her best work, but the writing style as usual had wit and charm, the story just didn’t work for me personally.
