Publisher Description
There are three things you need to know about Marie Harris: 1) She’s fed up with online dating, 2) She’s so fed up, she’s willing to forego the annoyance and consider more creative alternatives, and 3) She knows how to knit.
After the most bizarre first date in the history of dating, Marie is looking for an alternative to men. With the help of her friends, she quickly identifies a few possibilities: Need a cuddle? Use a professional cuddler. Need affirmation? Get yourself a life coach. Need an orgasm? Try orgasm meditation! Why does she need the hassle of a romantic partner when she can meet all her needs with paid services?
But then her irritating date resurfaces. And he’s not at all the person she thought he was. And he suggests a different—and crazier—solution to her dilemma . . .

Intelligent romantic comedy with it’s refreshingly unique plot and loveable quirky characters
Dating-ish follows in true Penny Reid style as being an intelligent romantic comedy that just completely engrosses you from start to finish with it’s strong and refreshingly unique plot and loveable quirky characters. Be assured, this can be read as a standalone despite being book 6 in the series; I personally haven’t read any of the previous books in this series and followed along fine.
Marie and Matt have an incredible attraction and chemistry as these two quirky and slightly geeky people find themselves unable to resist despite the disaster of their first meeting. This is a bit of an opposites attract book too with their views on love with Marie being a journalist weaving her way through the sticky dating world and Matt a professor working on a unique angle with AI but the way they are together is just so heartwarming as the book evolves. What I personally loved about these characters is that they aren’t perfect or typical but it’s part of the charm that makes them so relatable to readers and why it’s so easy to take them into your heart and root for them.
Penny Reid gets the balance in this book outstandingly perfectly with just the right amount of emotion varying from humour to angst / tension and finally love. The relationship is steadily built up between the two characters before things get heated but it’s very appropriate and just perfect for these two quirky characters. I’m not going to say any more because I don’t want to give away any spoilers as you should just read this and enjoy the surprises within for yourself.
Overall, if you are looking for a brilliantly written and intelligent romantic comedy, definitely give this book a read. I really enjoyed it.
