The planet of Caliban exists much as it has for thousands of years – the knightly orders protect the common people, fighting back the beasts that lurk in the depths of the seemingly endless forests. Young Zahariel and Nemiel aspire to join the greatest of the orders, led by the example of mighty Lion El’Jonson and his vision of a peaceful and unified world. But the coming of the Imperium brings new concerns and a new destiny for the Lion as part of the Great Crusade, and the sons of Caliban must decide if they will follow him to glory among the stars.

Great read but what the .......!
Ok firstly just want to say that the book was a great read. It was refreshing to read about the beginnings of a Space Marine legion.
Whilst it was a great read it left me severely disappointed with the last third of the novel, it positively ran through a huge section of the life of the Dark Angels almost as if the author was bored and wanted it over or the editor just cut huge swathes of the novel out to keep the page count low!!!!!
Despite this enjoy the read but be warned. Happy reading & onto the next in the series ;)
Great knightly tale
Prior to reading this book I had read Luther and really enjoyed it, I didn’t know much about the dark angels origins or really understand it.
The story is focused on Zahariel, mainly and through his eyes, you can enter the world of Caliban. And see the dangers it faces, and join the Order a group of knights from all backgrounds with a goal to protect the realm from the monsters that threaten it.
And journey past Caliban and into the stars, under the banner of the Lion.
Forgiven....
If you have any interest in the first legion background...
This goes full caliban on you...
