Why this 4+ star book only gets 1 star from me
While I am enjoying this read enormously and would like to rate it 4 stars, I'm now distracted enough by all the endless, stupid typos to write a review about this ongoing iBooks issue. To Mr.Harris I make my sincerest apology, and it is unfair that he gets it in the neck, but that's just how it goes and, besides, authors might be the best people to deal with it.
Just who proofreads and prepares this stuff ? "-tly" is consistently rendered as "-dy" , as if a computer in another land is the final arbiter, and that's just for starters. I could give many other examples, but frankly that's not my job.
This is by no means the only book I have purchased from iBooks that is littered with spelling errors. Put simply, whoever's job it actually is to rectify mistakes isn't doing it.
Steve Jobs (RIP) spent years building a superior, quality design reputation for Apple that hinged on ease of use. Authors too, sweat long hours to produce something entertaining and readable. How is it that some unnamed dimwit can jeopardise this so readily and consistently ?
iBooks is a fairly new development. Time to get it together and establish a high standard of finished proof. Heck, this is the digital age, and it ought therefore to be quite possible to produce editions with no typos.
