Having really enjoyed Ann and Stephens adventures in the first book of this trilogy I was looking forward to finding out more about the Bryce family.
Pleased to say I wasn't at all disappointed. The way the story unfolded with Peter remembering his youth and how he met his wife Susan, and the childhood he shared with his sister Jean gave an insight into the person he was. It was written so well moving effortlessly between Anne and Stephens wedding and Peter and Susan's past.
And so another mystery story started to slowly unravel. Set around the village that became their home, Peter and Susan became caught up in a gang of people stealing artwork and antiques. The scenes in the old stone quarry were so good that I felt I was walking along those tunnels and caves with them.
Another great story that kept me wondering to the end and I'm signed up to receive an email when the third book is out . Really looking forward to the next instalment and hopefully others to follow
A riveting adventure full of nostalgia!
Having enjoyed the first book in this trilogy I had been awaiting the next instalment with enthusiasm! This story begins at Stephen and Ann's wedding. The occasion triggers Peter to reminisce over the events of his youth. These memories are cleverly woven with the events of the wedding day, and supplemented with the thoughts of relatives who are also guests at the wedding. As the character's current circumstances are familiar from the first book this was a great chance to get to know them more. Well written, the author describes scenes in detail, helping you to draw an image in your imagination. The family members felt like people I knew well! It is the sort of book that you can't put down, and keeps you entertained from beginning to the satisfying ending! I'm now keen to know whose life will feature in the final instalment!
I would recommend this most highly; a perfect holiday read!!
