‘Thank goodness for Katie Fforde, the perfect author to bring comfort in difficult times. She really is the queen of uplifting, feel good romance.’ AJ PEARCE
Has Laura found her leading man? A wonderfully romantic novel from the No. 1 Sunday Times bestselling author of A Rose Petal Summer, A Vintage Wedding and A Summer at Sea.
Falling in love can be all too easy...
When the bookshop where Laura works is about to close, she finds herself agreeing to help organise a literary festival.
Laura’s initial excitement turns to dread when an innocent mistake leads the festival organisers to believe that Laura is a close friend of Dermot Flynn. An infamous writer at the top of their wish list and a notorious recluse to boot.
Always one to rise to a challenge, Laura sets off for Ireland to convince her literary hero to attend the festival.
Falling for him was never part of the plan…

Hardworking author Fforde's (Wedding Season) latest delivers a cute but meandering story with a Nora Ephron feel. A chance meeting gives quiet bookshop clerk Laura Horsley a chance to organize a literary festival. Though Laura is initially unsure of herself, she gains the support of a potential sponsor, on the condition she fly to Ireland to find and bring back reclusive author, Dermot Flynn. Contrary to her expectations, handsome Dermot agrees on the shocking condition that she sleep with him. Laura, a virgin, acquiesces, only to fall asleep before the deed is done. After Laura returns to England, circumstances bring Laura and Dermot together to teach a writing course, and Laura finally fulfills her earlier agreement. But when an encounter with a rival for Dermot's affections leaves Laura feeling like nothing more than a one night stand, she becomes determined to avoid Dermot. In the old-fashioned tradition of the great misunderstanding, Linda and Dermot's quarrels are eventually resolved. The focus on the heroine's personal growth and the closed door sex scenes lends this novel a comfortable if predictable retro Cinderella chick lit sensibility.
Great book. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Couldn't put it down. Anyone who would love to work in the literary world-what are you waiting for-buy it. Romantic novel but much more. A feel good experience.
All time fave Katie Fforde
This is definitely my favourite of Katie Fforde's novels, and I've read all of them. The protagonists are endearing, the love story is hot and I love how her characters cross over from other books. Deffo worth the fiver it cost.
Easy reading at it's best. Really enjoyed the story line.
