Publisher Description
JACK REACHER NEVER LOOKS BACK . . . UNTIL NOW.
'There's only one Jack Reacher. Accept no substitutes.' - Mick Herron.
The present can be tense . . .
A young couple trying to get to New York City are stranded at a lonely motel in the middle of nowhere. Before long they're trapped in an ominous game of life and death.
But the past can be worse . . .
Meanwhile, Jack Reacher sets out on an epic road trip across America. He doesn't get far. Deep in the New England woods, he sees a sign to a place he has never been - the town where his father was born. But when he arrives he is told no one named Reacher ever lived there. Now he wonders: who's lying?
As the tension ratchets up and these two stories begin to entwine, the stakes have never been higher for Reacher.
That's for damn sure.

APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
Jack Reacher’s work has taken him around the world, but in Lee Child’s 23rd book in the series, the itinerant investigator launches an investigation that hits close to home. When Reacher reroutes a cross-country road trip to visit his father’s New Hampshire birthplace, the grizzled vet drives straight into questions about his own past. Reacher devotees and newcomers will feel like they’re fully embedded with Child’s hero, whose intuition is matched only by his fearlessness as he navigates a crazy parade of twists and turns.

Past tense
An enjoyable read from start to finish. Not the best jack reacher novel, but definitely still worth the read.
Jack reacher stand up guy and more
This was a really different Jack reacher story with an excellent background story. Jack decides to research something from his past and get involved in something far bigger and interesting. Great read. Loved it!
The last 1/3 (maybe 1/4) is classic great Reacher page turning but…
Like some other reviews say this one is a really really slow burner. I struggled and skip read in places until it became exciting a long way in. My 23rd Reacher book in 10 months so I can call myself hooked but please don’t read this one first or it will put you off them all.
