Publisher Description
Spaniards are truly in their element when they're enjoying great appetizers with a glass of sherry while happily chatting with friends. This isn't about any old appetizer. No, this is about tapas: tasty, individual dishes that are served in countless variations throughout Spain's many tapas bars.
Tapas are as important a part of the day in Spanish life as breakfast, lunch, siesta and dinner; in fact, possibly more so. However small or simple the tapas may be, they represent a certain attitude: a relaxed lifestyle, where time is made to enjoy tasty food in relaxed company.
This cookbook, with its many traditional but also astonishingly contemporary tapas dishes, is intended to meet the growing demand in creating a Spanish-style evening. It can be as simple as a couple of slices of chorizo and olives. Or something a little more complicated, such as prawns with romesco sauce. It all depends on what you want!
Customer Reviews
The true taste of Spain
Having tested quite a few recipes from this book now, I can only echo previous glowing reviews from other users. Superb dishes, easy to follow instructions, imaginative yet affordable ingredients, authentic flavours... need I go on? You really do get the sense that this book has been extensively researched and lovingly compiled by true tapas enthusiasts. A fantastic buy, and one I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend.
Excellent choice, highly recommended
Having recently returned from Barcelona, the home of top-notch tapas, I was very keen to try them out at home. I was quite daunted by the sheer variety of tapas cookbooks to choose from, but the many reviews praising this book made up my mind for me. And I couldn’t agree more! This book deserves praise for its easy, casual, informal approach, combined with bold and impressive flavours. This is exactly what tapas is all about. A fantastic buy!
Captures the ‘spirit’ of tapas perfectly
What makes this book a cut above the rest is the huge amount of background information the reader is given on tapas culture. It really adds to the experience of preparing and eating each dish, and is helpful for understanding the many cultural influences of the various tapas regions. This book combines simplicity with elegance better than any other tapas book I have tried- and I have tried quite a few! Well worth the modest price.
