Publisher Description
Includes the stories THE LONG WALK, made into a major film by The Hunger Games director Francis Lawrence and THE RUNNING MAN, also a film starring Glenn Powell.
For years, readers wrote asking if Richard Bachman was really world-bestselling Stephen King writing under another name. Now the secret is out - and so, brought together in one volume, are these three spellbinding stories of future shock and suspense.
The Long Walk: A chilling look at the ultra-conservative America of the future where a grueling 450-mile marathon is the ultimate sports competition.
Roadwork: An immovable man refuses to surrender to the irresistible force of progress.
The Running Man: TV's future-favourite game show, where contestants are hunted to death in the attempt to win a $1 billion jackpot.

An incredible read
I first saw this book as a teenager and wanted a hard copy of it very badly.
I eventually got the e-book version and can honestly say I love all the stories in this wonderful collection.
Favourites are "The running man" and "The long walk". Fantastically dark but subtly intelligent these books look at the dark and the light sides of human nature and rage against the machine of autocracy.
Amazing books. I was surprised at the almost prophetic final chapters of "The running man" but I will not spoil this twist for the readers.
Make your own conclusions, it wasn't lost on me.
10/10.
Brilliant Stories
All 3 are excellent but my favourite is The Running Man (The Arnie film has nothing on it - now that they have remade Total Recall - they should remake the Running Man but stick to the book!) I can (and have) read this over and over.
The Long Walk is a simple concept (now that it's written) but brilliantly written and fascinating. Roadwork is excellent too. Overall fairly easy reading but very very entertaining.
