Publisher Description
The Beach Cafe is Lucy Diamond's classic bestseller, a story of new beginnings, love and adventure.
Evie Flynn has always been the black sheep of her family – a dreamer and a drifter, unlike her over-achieving elder sisters. She's tried making a name for herself as an actress, a photographer and a singer, but nothing has ever worked out. Now she's stuck in temp hell, with a sensible, pension-planning boyfriend. Somehow life seems to be passing her by.
Then her beloved aunt Jo dies suddenly in a car crash, leaving Evie an unusual legacy – her precious beach cafe in Cornwall. Determined to make a success of something for the first time in her life, Evie heads off to Cornwall to get the cafe and her life back on track – and gets more than she bargained for, both in work and in love . . .
APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
From the author: “This is certainly the book I’ve had the biggest response to from readers. I wrote it because—like so many people—I’d always thought when I was a little girl that I’d love to have a café at the beach. It’s just a really lovely dream. I got to my thirties with three kids and I was thinking, ‘I’m probably not going to do that now, but maybe I’ll write about it.’ And it turned out thousands of other people had that little dream. This book is about the character, Evie Flynn, growing up, learning who she is and what she can do. There is a romance, but he’s just a bonus. Because, by that point, she’s got it together. It’s her lovely personality that wins over the village [in Cornwall, where The Beach Café is set] and she starts making the café a success. He’s lucky to have her, basically! I wrote follow-up stories to this book and I really love going back to Evie and the other characters. So many people have tried to guess where the beach in this book is. I stayed near Daymer Bay and it’s like a different world down there. We’ve had lots of summer holidays there. I don’t think I could write this book now, because I’m a bit older. It’s just a really joyful book, I think, and my later books have slightly more darkness or complexity, whereas this is quite a nice, straightforward, joyful story.”

The Beach Cafe
I loved this book a really easy read with some great characters and a beautiful setting you can almost feel the sea air and hear the seagulls as you read the book. I wanted to visit the cafe and eat home made cakes reading this book was like snuggling into a comfortable armchair! a great holiday read.
Amazing - Couldn't put it down!
This book is a heart warming chick lit book which I couldn't put down. I was captured by the characters, the bay and not forgetting the cakes.
This is the first book I'd read by Lucy Diamond and I've since downloaded her other two. Both of which I hope will live up to my high expectations after reading this book!
