Chief of Police Ed Kapenash is about to retire. Blond Sharon is going through a divorce. But when a 22-million-dollar summer home is purchased by the mysterious Richardsons—how did they make their money, exactly?—Ed, Sharon, and everyone in the community are swept up in high drama. The Richardsons throw lavish parties, flirt with multiple locals, flaunt their wealth with not one but two yachts, and raise impossible hopes of everyone they meet. When their house burns to the ground and their most essential employee goes missing, the entire island is up in arms. The last of Elin Hilderbrand's bestselling Nantucket novels, SWAN SONG is a propulsive medley of glittering gatherings, sun-soaked drama, wisdom and heart, featuring the return of some of her most beloved characters, including, most importantly, the beautiful and timeless island of Nantucket itself.
The audiobook edition features an interview between Elin and her longtime narrator Erin Bennett.
APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
The search for a missing woman could tear a community apart in Elin Hilderbrand’s final book in her Nantucket series. Outgoing police chief Ed Kapenash has been called in for one last case. Colleen “Coco” Coyle, personal assistant to the uber-rich couple the Richardsons, goes missing after a sunset cruise on their yacht. But things get complicated when it turns out Coco had ulterior motives for taking the job—and when the investigation brings up uncomfortable truths about the Richardsons themselves. It might go without saying, but Hilderbrand is well-versed in all the intimate details of Nantucket life. We become totally immersed in the island’s wealthy but quirky world of gossip and melodrama, even as the captivating mystery surrounding the Richardsons unfolded. Erin Bennett’s warm, crisp narration captures both the island’s charm and the story’s simmering tension. Swan Song is one of this best-selling author’s best, and it will make an excellent addition your summer beach listening.

Swan Song
Good read but the end choppy and a little disappointing.
Beach read and not much else
I had never read Elin’s books but saw her interview on CBS, with Gayle King saying it was a fun beach read. So I got the audio book for a solo road trip. What a disappointment! I’m determined to finish but feel like I’m reading “Real Housewives” - it’s all fluff, plentiful designer references, parties and extravagance. I prefer a more substantive plot with interesting characters - this has none of that.
Just okay...
I enjoyed the book but I felt like the end was rushed. Not my favorite.
