Mercenaries Hadrian Blackwater and Royce Melborn search for the Horn, joined by the "wizardess" princess Arista and the scholarly monk Myron. Death traps, magic, long-lost children, and real and decoy heirs abound. Sullivan is not a subtle writer, and the sudden romance between Hadrian and Arista is hastily tacked on, but he delivers a fun story with plenty of sword fighting and some genuine surprises.

End of an Epic
Particularly in the fantasy genre, there is not really a whole lot of humor integrated into the story. Multiple times I found myself laughing out loud. Integrate that humor with a truly epic plot, and you have an excellent book to read. The characters are very well developed and I am sad to see them go. I was very satisfied with the way the series wrapped up however. I hope to see more material from this author.
This story has affected me more than anything since I first read Lord of the Rings.
In highly recommend this series to everyone who enjoys fantasy novels.

I’ve read this series three times and I’m ready restart again. I wish it were a MOVIE!
