A hearwarming romance
A Brambleberry Summer by RaeAnne Thayne is the sixth book in her popular The Women of Brambleberry House Series. I have not read the other books in this series, but I will now! This was a fun, light book, with a spunky heroine, a tortured hero, a cute little boy, and a couple of fun dogs to make some mischief for the couple, all set in a beautiful small town on the Oregon coast.
Rosa Galvez just wants to live a peaceful life, managing the three apartments in Brambleberry House and her little store in the small coastal town of Cannon Beach. When a friend suggests she let Officer Wyatt Townsend and his seven-year-old son, Logan rent one of her empty apartments, she knows it’s not a good idea, but she doesn’t have a good reason to refuse. Her quiet, solitary life picks up and her initial attraction to Wyatt gets stronger.
This is a fun, light book, with a powerful and strong heroine, who has a past she’s ashamed of, and has a huge heart, and likes to help others. I found this book to read very fast, I enjoyed the pacing and felt the mysterious background of Rosa and Wyatt made me want to keep reading as fast as I could to get to the end.
The characters are wonderful. Wyatt, a strong lawman, his son Logan, just as cute as can be without being saccharine, and of course the energetic beagle, Hank, and the very elegant Irish Setter Fiona all made a fabulous cast of characters.
The author did an excellent job of describing the beautiful town of Cannon Beach and the lovely old home of Brambleberry House. Although this book is in a series, it’s very much a stand-alone novel.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
