(A standalone Heartbreaker Bay novel)
There’s no such thing as a little in love . . .
Elle Wheaton’s priorities: friends, career, and kick-ass shoes. Then there’s the muscular wall of stubbornness that’s security expert Archer Hunt—who comes before everything else. No point in telling Mr. “Feels-Free Zone” that, though. Elle will just see other men until she gets over Archer . . . which should only take a lifetime . . .
There’s no such thing as a little in lust . . .
Archer’s wanted the best for Elle ever since he sacrificed his law-enforcement career to save her. Their chemistry could start the next San Francisco earthquake and he craves her 24/7, but Archer doesn’t want to be responsible for the damage. The alternative? Watch her go out with guys who aren’t him . . .
There is such a thing as . . .
As far as Archer’s concerned, nobody is good enough for Elle. But when he sets out to prove it by sabotaging her dates, she gets mad—and things get hot as hell. Now Archer has a new mission: prove to Elle that her perfect man has been here all along . . .
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
Shalvis's San Francisco based Heartbreaker Bay contemporary romance series started out strong, but this time around, property manager Elle Wheaton and romantic foil Archer Hunt have neither the quirky charm of Pru Harris and Finn O'Riley (Sweet Little Lies) nor the warm glow of Willa Davis and Keane Winters (The Trouble with Mistletoe). Elle and Archer do fulfill the overarching theme of the series: two people connected by complicated past issues who fight their mutual attraction against the backdrop of the city's Cow Hollow District. Archer, an ex-cop, operates a security business that's responsible for the safety of the building that Elle manages. He knew that the two of them working together was a bad idea old baggage and all yet he recommended her for the building manager job anyway. The daily torture of their close professional proximity is too slender a thread on which to hang the story, so Shalvis adds a subplot involving Elle's black-sheep sister that lacks sufficient depth to be credible. Shalvis's fans will still read this installment, but they know she can do better.

Great Read!
Whenever I don't know what I am in the mood to read, I always look to Jill Shalvis and her books. They always enter and never disappoint. Such is the case with Accidentally on Purpose, the third book in her Heartbreaker Bay series. You don't have to read these books in order as each one stands alone and is connected by characters or friends.
Archer and Elle are tough. Tough individuals and were a little tough for me to fall in love with at first. The way they avoided each other was somewhat annoying yet I couldn't stop turning the pages and had a difficult time putting the book down. Shalvis' writing is like that. Even if you are not instantly fond of how the characters are acting you still find yourself immersed in their lives and you just can't turn away.
As the story played out my heart gave way to Archer and Elle when they both turned a corner on how they were approaching their relationship and letting their guards down a bit. Their chemistry was off the charts and they fell into a comfortable rhythm. Not every relationship is the same in real life which makes books more entertaining when you have a couple like this. Their bickering works for them. They like to push each other. They both like control. Shalvis did an excellent job with these two.
The supporting characters in the story are always great and I hope we get more of Joe and Spence in future books! I also adored the tiny bit of suspense this story offered. It was perfect for Archer and Elle's story. If you are looking for a sexy, contemporary romance story, give Accidentally on Purpose a read.
Accidentally On Purpose
Wow!!!! I just finished this book and I'm breathless!!! I don't know if I have the words to tell you how much I loved this story. Archer is a hero and protector bar none!!! He has spent the last eleven years watching over Elle and making sure she is safe. Elle was the girl that got to him, she had him doing things that would cost him so much but in the end she gave him everything!!! Theirs isn't an easy love story it took courage for both of them to let the other one close. They both had hearts that were surrounded by brick walls that had to be removed carefully, one brick at a time. Archer fell first and hard then he had to believe enough for both of them until he convinced her he wouldn't leave that he loved her forever and it was safe for her to love him too!!! The writing of this book was genius, it was so well written that I couldn't stop reading until I was done and now that I have posted my review I'm going to go back and read it again!!! I have fallen for this book family and I can't wait to read more!!! Well done Jill Shalvis I think you are insanely talented I am a fan for life!!
Wow!
Elle and Archer have been at odds for a long time. Through the friendships and romances in this series, they work together for their friends but they’re in constant battle otherwise. It’s a case of where there’s fire there are hidden embers. Elle and Archer have a past together that no one else really knows. And they have a wild attraction to each other but both have very high walls built around their hearts. This was a truly terrific read—I loved Elle and Archer!
