Publisher Description

Can a demi-goddess make her way back from the afterlife to take her rightful place amongst the gods?

Having served Ma'at faithfully for many years, High Priestess Edrice is given a once in a life time opportunity.

All she has to do is take a test. If she succeeds, she'll become a goddess in her own right. If she fails, she will cease to exist in this life and the next.

But with the art of making new deities lost to most of the other gods and goddesses, there are more risks than Menefer wants her to take.

How can Edrice decide between her heart and her destiny? And is there a way she can keep both?

Acolyte Of Truth is part of the Forgotten Gods series and is based on Egyptian mythology. It includes a dash of adventure, a m/f romance, and can be read as a standalone.

If you enjoy Egyptian mythology, gods and goddesses, quests and adventures, and a modern setting, then you should start the Forgotten Gods series!

Forgotten Gods book 5

I read this in a boxset and found this story an emotional tough one. It deals with conviction and trials. A personal struggle and decision making. Where all these forgotten Egyptian gods stories are based on fiction, each novel carries a significant moral or lesson. This story focuses on High Priestess of Ma’at, Edrice & her love Menefer, High Priest of Horus. She goes through the trial to become a goddess of truth (ultimate lie detector). Beautifully written.

Great story

Laura Greenwood has written an amazing series. I love reading about the Forgotten Gods. I can't get enough of them. I love the worlds that she creates. I loved Edrice and Menefer. I couldn't put their story down. This series just keeps getting better and better.

Not my favorite

Edrice is a relatively newly made demi goddess and a high priestess of Ma’at. She is somewhat insecure in her place as she is the most junior of her station, was not born a demi goddess and was not raised in the temples at Karnak like the others. However she does serve to the best of her capabilities. Her world is turned upside down when meeting with her goddess she learns that one of the 42 judges of Duat is missing and she has been put forward as a replacement. This means she must go through a transformation and become a full goddess rather than demi goddess. She decides to accept and her journey begins. While the glimpse into the belief system of the Ancient Egyptians is quite interesting the journey and ending are somewhat anticlimactic. The history and mythology are of interest to me as I am a fan of all things Ancient Egyptian other than that I’m just not sure what the goal of the story was.
