Publisher Description
These casually drawn, perfectly on-point comics by the hugely popular young artist Sarah Andersen are for the rest of us. They document the wasting of entire beautiful weekends on the internet, the unbearable agony of holding hands on the street with a gorgeous guy, and dreaming all day of getting home and back into pajamas. In other words, the horrors and awkwardnesses of young modern life. Oh and they are totally not autobiographical. At all.
Adulthood Is a Myth presents many fan favorites plus dozens of all-new comics exclusive to this book. Sarah's frankness on personal issues like body image, self-consciousness, introversion, relationships, and the frequency of bra-washing makes her comics highly relatable and deeply hilarious, showcasing how she became one of the most influential voices in web cartoonists.
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
Andersen explores the foibles of young adulthood in this debut collection of single-gag strips, many of which have already found viral success online. These "scribbles" poke gently at everything from paycheck management to pedicures. Andersen is an excellent caricaturist some of her funniest punch lines are panels of wordless, wide-eyed faces. Like so many talented comedians before her, much of her best material comes from the uncomfortable and even embarrassing aspects of life. Strips that engage social anxiety in all forms including body-hair depilation and social media performance are standouts, and judging by their online reception, they're among her most relatable work. This isn't a volume that will speak to everyone, but it doesn't need to be. In keeping her focus strictly personal, Andersen makes a bold debut into print.

Fantastic
Hilarious, cute, and very astute. Love Sarah's work so much, I even bought Invader Zim #11. Will be looking to get 'Big Mushy Lump' next. The only thing you'll regret about buying this, is that inevitably the last page must come.
