“Against the Cage is funny, steamy, scorching, and holy hot MMA fighter, I wanted more! Five stars all the way!”—New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Toni Aleo
For Chrissy Martin, returning to her Florida hometown always seems to bring bad luck. The day starts with a breakup text, followed by a jailhouse phone call from her troublemaker brother. Now a routine traffic stop has ended with her accidentally punching an officer . . . in a delicate place. Then Chrissy realizes that the hot cop on the receiving end of her right hook is none other than the man from her teenage fantasies.
Jack Daniels knows how to take a hit. After all, when he’s not chasing reckless drivers, he’s kicking ass in a mixed martial arts ring. So what takes his breath away isn’t the low blow, but the woman who dealt it: a gorgeous knockout with legs Jack wouldn’t mind being pinned under—who just so happens to be his best friend’s nerdy little sister, all grown up. Soon their instant chemistry leads to a sizzling affair, but Jack and Chrissy are fighting an uphill battle if they want to make love last beyond the final bell.

PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
When ditzy doctor Chrissy Martin reluctantly returns to her hometown of Tarpon Springs, Fla., to get her brother, Slade, out of jail, the first thing she does is inadvertently punch a police officer in the family jewels. Worse, the man of the law is none other than the unfortunately named Jack Daniels, Slade's best friend. Both Slade and Jack are fighters on the mixed martial arts circuit, which becomes a major point of contention between Jack and Chrissy, since her professional ethics clash mightily with the brutal fighting world. Scene-stealer Drogo, the tiny Chihuahua/pit bull terror of the town, adds yet more comic relief to Halston's naturally humorous writing style. The story straddles the worlds of white picket fences and gritty cage fighting with an interesting blend of explicit sex, profanity, violence, memories of family tragedy, smalltown life, and close character connections. Some stilted dialogue hampers the flow, but the characters' emotions ring true.

Fun reading
Enjoyed it a lot, sexy, a little drama, lots of love, a little of everything that makes reading enjoyable..
Left something to be desired
I read and finished this whole book in a day. I could not look away from the story. It completely had my attention from start to finish. But there was a few things I wish was more in depth, like Chrissy's relationship to Brian. It was brought up and mentioned through the whole story and I thought he was going to pop up somewhere in the story but he didn't(I was looking forward to that confrontation). And then Slade's part, I was hoping for more there as well even though I know he was the catalyst to start everything, I wanted more for his story. Because to me it would have made Chrissy's and Jack's relationship more in depth. But if there will be a whole story for Slade then I am all for it.
First book in an amazing series!!!
Jack and Chrissy have known each other their whole lives. He's her brother's best friend. One misunderstanding in high school and she stopped talking to Jack. 11 years has passed since he's seen her and now she's back and more beautiful than ever. She's here to bail her brother out of jail. Even though there are incredible sparks between Jack and Chrissy, she's fighting it because she's still hurt from the high school incident. She's been in an abusive relationship in the past. Can she deal with the violence in an MMA fighter or is it just her past coming back to haunt her?
This is a "brother's best friend" romance and I truly enjoyed reading it. It was entertaining with plenty of humor, testosterone, friendship and romance. Oh, and keep a cloth close by so you can wipe the steam off your E reader screen. Got to love those sexy MMA fighters. When these guys fall, they fall hard! This is the first book in the Worth the Fight series and I can't wait to read more.
