Welcome to Panic, a sultry Miami nightclub where bodies and hearts move to a beat that doesn’t stop at sunrise—the setting for “a magnificent story full of deep emotion” (Sawyer Bennett).
Katherine: I thought I could enjoy a night out like a normal person. I thought I could handle the flashing lights, the pulsing music, the crowded dance floor. I couldn’t have been more wrong. After having an anxiety attack and passing out during my sister’s engagement party at Panic, I wake up in the arms of the hottest guy I’ve ever seen. Nick Moreno’s no gentleman. But he might just be the man I need to help me take control of my life.
Nick: When I hear there’s some random girl passed out in the back room of my family’s South Beach nightclub, I’m pissed. My dad’s already behind bars and we can’t afford any more bad press. But after giving her a lift—literally—back to her apartment, I stop seeing Katherine Wilson as some random girl. She’s gorgeous, vulnerable, and braver than she knows. And when we kiss, all I want to do is pull her close and promise that she’ll always be safe in my arms.
No cheating. No cliffhangers. And no dress code.

This book was EVERYTHING!
I cannot even begin to explain the love I have for this book! I remember when I found it I knew that this one had the potential to be something incredibly special to me, but I had no idea how special it would be. I love this book for so many reasons and I barely know where to start!
Their relationship as well as the story was smooth and beautiful. You see these two steadily grow and their relationship progress into something important to each other. My favorite part about their relationship is that Nick didn't see her as a disorder, he saw her as a woman who was trying to deal with a difficult problem.
"She's Katherine, a beautiful, intelligent, self-assured woman who happens to have this terrible affliction. But I like Katherine. A lot. And it's too late to walk away."
After he realized what she was going through, he did his best to help her and it was because he wanted to. It's a beautiful thing for someone who is going through difficult circumstances to have someone on their side that will try to see from their perspective. Although it wasn't easy and it was something he wasn't prepared for, Nick went out of his way to try to help her live a better life the best way he could.
Reading this book, you get to see what day to day is like for someone who suffers with severe anxiety. You get to see how they manage to think themselves into the dark and how their life can be affected by it. Sidney Halston wrote this book in such an incredibly realistic way, it's hard to even compare anything to it. This is one book that I would recommend everyone read because not only do you get an incredibly love story, you also get an incredibly story of a girl's bravery to overcome her fears while standing alongside someone who really cares for her!
In short: Sidney Halston has written a story that brings light to PTSD and Anxiety disorders in a way that will steal your heart while enlightening your mind.
Wonderful read - full of emotion and tension!
It’s been a while since I’ve read a title from Sidney Halston, and this new series set in Miami brings all of the character, intrigue and heat that I have come to expect from her.
Katherine has decided that leaving her apartment is not a good thing. Severe anxiety has limited her life and brought her low repeatedly: lastly after fainting in the arms of the most beautiful man she had ever seen. Passing over the threshold that separates her apartment from the world is not a good idea, as that incident proved to her.
Nick owns Panic nightclub in Miami, and he’s dealt with more than his fair share of junkies and drunks. Not looking to open the can of worms that is the police, he and his brother secrete her in their office and wait until she comes around. He decides that he will take her home (a chivalrous moment) even as won’t listen to any explanations, preferring the story he had in his head.
Nick and his brother were completely burned when they took over their father’s successful club. Behind the scenes there were drugs and drug deals, and a raid put them in jail until information of their non-involvement came forward. Since then, there’s been a focus on a clean and drug free nightclub – and Nick lost his junkie girlfriend. So he completely jumped to conclusions when searching Katherine’s purse after she passed out, and finding her anti-anxiety meds.
Katherine is bolder than she thinks, in making sure to try to explain herself and her anxiety to Nick, thanking him for not taking advantage. He’s a bit more open to her in their second meeting, and he is intrigued. Even though he knows it’s not the right thing.
Halston does a remarkable job in both explaining Katherine’s anxieties and the power they have over her, as well as showing the push-pull with Nick. Once he’s intrigued, he is determined to help her. The palpable emotion, the paralyzing fears and even Katherine’s desire to overcome the worst moments, with or without Nick’s help is wonderful. Tense to read – you want to see some positive changes for her anxiety, as well as admiring Nick’s growth and caring. I whipped through these pages, hoping to see them find a way to work through and with the anxiety, rather than letting it stop them.
I received an eArc copy of the title from the publisher via NetGalley for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.
Good start to a new series
It was hard to see how this story could have a happy ending. Katherine's PTSD was so extreme, and I know this does not go away fast, if at all. Because of the time that passed through this story, I grew to love the grumpy but loving Nico who did what he could to help Katherine. I had to keep turning pages to see how they made it to the other side of this disorder. As the story progressed, I enjoyed it more. I recommend this story highly.
I received a copy of this story through Netgalley, and this is my unsolicited review.
