All Wound Up

This is book #10 in the Play-By-Play series. This book can be read as a standalone novel. I just feel that for best understanding of the series and inside jokes, you will enjoy these books better if read in order.

Tucker and Aubry meet when he is left injured in her parent's wine cellar at a party. Being a doctor, she wants to help and offers to check him out. Little did she know he was really a hot baseball player for her father's team.

Aubry is so busy concentrating on her career and her father does not want her to get involved with anyone for fear it will cause problems. Tucker is also big on his career and wants to do well. Together they are explosive with sparks flying all over the place!

This was such a great book with excellent character development and lots of humor! I enjoyed every page, and cannot wait to read the next book in the series.

Shirtless male winding up to throw a baseball, mitt in another hand. A solid black background is vastly different from previous neutral colors. Model pops. Stronger title and author fonts. At this point in the series, I'm no longer reading the synopsis prior to reading it, so cannot base an opinion on the lure of the back cover.

Coming from a heavily populated NFL family, Tucker broke the mold by choosing to become a pitcher for the St. Louis Rivers. To say he gets picked on at family gatherings in a "slight" understatement. Aubrey is the daughter of the Rivers' owner. She does not have time to date, being too busy concentrating on completing her residency and all the other hoops and hurdles left to conquer. Even if she did have time, she's not interested in jocks. Even if a certain jock's junk was initially found in a funk and required up close and personal inspection - of the profession kind that is! Tucker's enchanted by Aubrey. Aubrey's playing hard to get. Her mom's a determined matchmaker, yet her dad is dead set on her not getting distracted - especially by one of this athletes and will resort to taking drastic measures to keep his little girl from straying off her path!
I liked the main characters, for the most part. However, once Tucker and Aubrey decide to "have fun", the quality of the plot seems to take a backseat to overly-abundant sex scenes with either cheesy or obnoxious sex dialogue. My head hurts from all the eye rolling and I found myself skimming through pages asking "are they done yet?". Not a flattering endorsement. When they're not having sex, he's at practice or a game, or she's at work. I did not feel an emotional connection between them, at all. The secondary cast was good.
Predictability was low. The primary conflict should not have even been an issue, however, typical lack of communication caused a rift that was later absolved.
Overall, it was not the best in the series and felt as if it were written as differently from previous installments as this cover looks to the others. Hard to recommend a title when it was difficult to read through yourself.
