PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
Burton's 12th Play-by-Play contemporary sports romance (after Unexpected Rush) is a captivating and satisfying mix of physical and emotional passions. Flynn Cassidy spends his days as a defensive end for the San Francisco Sabers and his nights at his new restaurant, Ninety-Two (named for his jersey number). He's tired of women using him to get their 15 minutes of fame and wants to fall in love with someone who loves him for himself. Amelia Lawrence, head chef at Ninety-Two, has no interest in the spotlight; she's perfectly content to turn out delicious dishes and guard her heart after a messy divorce from a man who didn't trust her and destroyed her self-confidence. The powerful chemistry between Amelia and Flynn leads to a red-hot romance, punctuated by sweet moments with Flynn's sports-minded family. But when a misunderstanding causes Flynn to question Amelia's motives in dating him, their baggage threatens their love. Burton imbues her hero and heroine with vulnerabilities that immediately endear them to readers, and the deft characterization, snappy dialogue, and sizzling love scenes will keep the pages turning. This may be Burton's best book yet.

FUN AND FLIRTY!
This is the twelfth book in the Play by Play series and each one is a standalone and all the characters are interconnected. I have enjoyed reading all the stories in this series and the secondary characters are what make these stories so entertaining.
RULES OF CONTACT has an engaging storyline and the interactions between the two main characters are fun and flirty.
Flynn Cassidy is a defensive football player for the San Francisco Sabers and the owner of Ninety -Two, a new restaurant in San Francisco. Flynn has grown up loving food and cooking and decides to open the restaurant while he is still playing football. He has a busy life trying to find time for both football and his restaurant and he has little time for anything else in this life. He doesn't have a good track record with women. Unfortunately, he seems to gravitate toward women who are only interested in him for his fame and fortune and how it can help them. Flynn is cool and confident and he has a tight knit family that keep him humble. Flynn’s family is a big gregarious group, they love each other, but can also be interfering and love to give each other a hard time.
Amelia is the head chef for Ninety-Two. She has been divorced for a year and isn't ready to get back into the dating game. She doesn't trust her instincts and is afraid of getting hurt again. It is easier to let work consume her than to put herself out there in the dating world. Amelia is unhappy when she finds herself attracted to Flynn. She has been hurt before and the last thing she needs is be attracted to her boss. Amelia is strong and stands up for herself and she isn't afraid to disagree with Flynn. She is a wonderful chef and confident in every way, until it comes to relationships. This is a fun, sweet, entertaining story with lots of passion between Amelia and Flynn. Their relationship starts slow and develops into more than either one of them anticipates. I liked Flynn and Amelia and thought they had a lot of steamy chemistry.
