An Apple Books Classic edition.
Andrew Barton “Banjo” Paterson was a poet, journalist, and author. He’s best known for his poem “Waltzing Matilda,” widely considered the unofficial national anthem of Australia.
Written at the turn of the 20th century,An Outback Marriage tells the story of an Englishman who sets out to find an heiress in colonial Australia. What follows is a romantic, humorous depiction of the bushland and its people—complete with brawls, horse chases, and, of course, a marriage.
APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
The colonial-era Australian bush is brought vibrantly to life in An Outback Marriage. First published in 1906, it’s one of only two novels by beloved humourist Banjo Paterson, who was renowned for his poems (including “Waltzing Matilda”) and short stories. In a busy frontier landscape of cattle rustling and clashing cultures, a young Englishman finds himself introduced to Aussie life in the form of romance, adversity and, of course, good humour. The novel features all the hallmarks of Paterson’s enduring poetry, from masterful scene setting to sly comic characterisations.

More to the Story?
The story is good but I don’t think the whole book is on this app. There was no tying it all together. The book stopped in mid conversation.
An Outback Marriage
I found it slow moving and difficult to stay with
A real romp!
As much as words can take you into a high energy exhilarating state of mind - this book does it. Sprinkled with some laugh out loud humor. And a fun survey of the rough days of old Australia. I’ve read a number of different books about Australia and enjoyed them all (A Fortunate Life was a favorite). So glad Apple suggested this Outback Marriage in their classics series - loved it.
